Green Door Studio:

Scroll for Pete Seeger

Alex Wilson, Drew Matott and Michael Connett collaborated to make a scroll for Pete Seeger. It was given as a gift to celebrate Mr. Seeger's life as an activist and artist. The scroll was handmade using rag and hemlock paper and xerographic prints. Alex Wilson selected the images using old records including The Harry Smith Anthology and Drew Matott bound it.

The end pages were made from hemlock bark cooked in lye for 12 hours and beaten in a hollander. The rest of the pages were made from a flannel shirt.

The pages were glued together using a wheat paste/pva glue. Images of Baskin, Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Champlain Songs and Harry Smith insignia adorn the scroll.
