Green Door Studio:
Eric Eickmann's space in content
In March 2003, Eric Eickmann exhibited a painting installation that consisted of three paintings that were minimally marked. The installation dealt with the amount of involvment an artist has with the choice of subject and necessary methods of approaching it in their work.
The artist makes no conscious choice in the subject and is not in a position to declare autonomously the necessary methods of approaching it. The work determines all potential manifestations in its unconditional and infinite existence.
A painting is a declaration of space. Its composition determines exactly how it exists in the world.
What is and what is not. Nothingness precipitates object/object volumizes nothingness.
