Warrior Writers:

Move, Shoot and Communicate

On April 21st, 2007, Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) released a handmade book, Warrior Writers: Move, Shoot and Communicate, created in collaboration with The People's Republic of Paper in the months leading up to the "Re-making Sense" exhibit at the Green Door Studio. The limited edition book (300 copies) featured a collection of writings by members of Iraq Veterans Against the War and is the work of Drew Cameron in conjunction with other local IVAW vets. The book has sold out. The proceeds went to help fund the Warrior Writers Project, a series of workshops designed to help veterans heal through the act of personal writing. A second book, Re-making Sense, based on writings from the April 21st writers workshop is available for sale from the IVAW store.

"In our writing, we find that we can create beauty and life
from our tears and pain."

The book is bound with a pigmented handmade blend of abaca and cotton made with a polypropelene mould. The text is lazer printed on 100% post-consumer recycled Forest Stewardship Council certified paper with bound covers. A limited edition of nine hardbound copies were made and sold at silent auction to benefit the project.
