Writing and Artmaking Workshops in India

STOP Orphanage, Delhi, India

As part of a series of workshops working with women and children who have been rescued from the sex trade in India, Melissa Pritchard, Melissa Walker and Drew Matott conducted writing, song, book and artmaking activities in Kolkata and Delhi.

While in Delhi the group made a canvas as a visual response to the writing exercise 'My Special Place'. Participants traced each other and then drew images derived from their writings onto the canvas using colored pencil, marker and crayon. The result was a double sided work of art. The finished canvas was framed between glass and mounted in the orphanage.
